This image is a mixed media image with elements of photography and watercolor painting of a large granite Boulder at the Landing on Lake Watson in Prescott, Arizona. The area where the photo is taken is known as the Granite Dells and is a remarkable geologic formation. On the day this image was captured the sky was a deep blue and cloudless. It made for a great image in a stock photography catalog but was without spirit or emotion.

To create this image, I took a beautiful cloud image, printed in black and white and then handprinted using watercolors. This was then scanned and added to the boulder image to give the sky a moody and soft feeling. Additionally, I used the dodging process to give the image a more painterly sensibility and a warm glow.

Only one original of this image is created, signed, dated and with a certificate of authenticity. The image is then used for creation of an open edition but otherwise archived and kept only for historic purposes and publications.
